M.Tech - Bio Technology
The Department of Biotechnology was established at Joginpally B.R Engineering College in the year 2002 with B.Tech. M.Tech Biotechnology course is starting from the academic year 2010-11with an intake of 18. The department is affiliated to JNTU and accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of AICTE for B.Tech course w.e.f. 16.04.2009.
The Department is headed by Prof. G.Venkateswerlu, who has more than 37 years of teaching and research experience in various fields of Biotechnology, and is assisted by a team of well qualified and highly experienced staff.The Department is having well equipped laboratories and infrastructure. The students are trained with latest techniques in the field of Biotechnology. Apart from the academics, they are also encouraged to carry their projects in the college and also in various reputed Institutes, Industries and Universities. Educational tours are organized to the students to visit various institutions and industries to be aware of developments in this field.
The Biotechnology department of JBREC organizes National level symposia serving as a platform to the biotechnology students across the country to share their ideas and views on the latest research and developments in this field, giving an opportunity to the students to interact with various scientists and industrial management.

Paper presentations:
J.V.Narayana, N.Suneetha, L.Dakshyani,Dr G.Venkateswerlu presented a paper entitled "Production of mycolytic enzymes by Chrysosporium sp. grown on shrimp chitin" in 11th International symposium on the Genetics of Industrial Microorganisms at Melbourne, Australia on June 28th to July 1st 2010 .
Database Publications:
The research work on Chrysosporium sp. GV-6 28S ribosomal RNA gene, partial sequence was published in GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ pulic databases.
